August 2010 - Rare opportunity to join luxury island trip!
Port Douglas 18 August 2010... Are you a closet creative exhibitionist? If you've ever wanted to expose the creative person inside you, Go Troppo Arts Festival and luxury vessel Enterprise II may have just the ticket. On Friday September 17th, festival director Jill Booth and Enterprise II manager Sally Sherlock are taking a select group of visiting media on a pre-festival familiarisation to Low Isles. There, they will discover the forces of nature beneath this festival which celebrates our tropical spring, and connect with their artistic side by creating a collage painting during a special workshop session devised by Jill.

After a delightful luncheon together with the invited journalists on board Enterprise II, they will explore the isles and the fringing reefs before gliding back to the marina. The deal, however, is that Enterprise II has four extra seats on this special day excursion and they are available for members of the public to purchase for $500 each, with the funds raised donated to the Go Troppo Arts Festival. "It’s a generous offer from the Enterprise II team because we really need to raise cash for the festival's administration," says Jill Booth. "We have received fantastic in-kind support from many sponsors but this opportunity to raise cash in such a delightful way is a boon," she said. "Normally, the day rate for a trip like this on Enterprise II would be several thousand dollars, however Sally has offered four lucky people the chance to get on board for a great fun day and donate to the festival. We are very fortunate to have such dedicated Friends of the Festival in 2010". Please telephone Jill 0439 886 480 or submit the contact form on the left of this page.
Four Special Sponsors
The four people who take up the offer will also, if they desire, have their names inscribed in the festival's program as special “Sponsor Friends of Go Troppo Arts Festival”. The media familiarisation is being organised by Tourism Port Douglas & Daintree and supported by its members. “We are hosting journalists from Melbourne, Darwin, Townsville and Cairns for the program to generate pre-publicity as we believe the festival plays a significant role in attracting visitors with an interest in creative tourism,” says TPDD executive officer Doug Ryan. The Go Troppo Arts Festival runs from 22 - 31 October 2010 at various locations around Port Douglas. It is a community event which seeks to include all artists and art forms of the region - music, theatre, writing, film, visual art, dance, sculpture and craft - in a celebration about life and art in the Australian tropics.
Choose your own workshop
Of particular note is the festival's series of "hands-on" workshops in unique locations, where participants might learn to build a life-sized portrait in clay, join iconic fashion designer, Linda Jackson, on the beach for an 'indigo to dye for' session or make coconut frond baskets to take home and impress their friends.
