Make your own tropical themed travel journal.
Have you ever wished that you could make your own, special and personal journal to record travel highlights - or maybe in which to keep your poems, drawings and dreams? Well now's your chance! Using carefully selected, quality papers you will learn the ancient craft of coptic book binding, using special stitching to join the whole together and produce a very practical and beautiful artwork.

Adele Outteridge is a Brisbane based artist and teacher, who is also one of our artists-in-residence for the Go Troppo Arts Festival this year.
Participants in this day long workshop will produce a tropical themed, hard cover personal/travel journal using a variety of papers and an open-spine Coptic stitch.
Adele will discuss the history of coptic binding as well as its characteristics and the various types of materials that may be used in the construction of art books.
Steps in the making of your hard covered diary will entail
1. Selection, cutting and collating of various papers for pages 2. Cutting and decorating covers 3. Assembly and sewing using coptic stitching 4. Finishing
LOCATION of this workshop is in the old sugar wharf in Port Douglas.COST per person is $A100. Please see attached form for payment options. MATERIALS for use in this class are all included in the price.
