Learn printmaking using perspex plates.
This workshop will explore the exciting method of printing from perspex plates. Artist and teacher, Wim de Vos, is a painter, printmaker and sculptor who has developed a considerable repertoire of methods of making art. He will introduce students to methods of engraving into this common material in order to develop a plate for printing. I think of it as being rather similar to etching whereby acid is used to make indentations in a metal plate which is then inked up and prints made from it. But this engraving and printing method is much easier and will have you achieving great results quickly. I think that Wim's method would be called
drypoint.
I shall have to ask him if that is correct! A tropical theme will be explored working with line and light and dark tones.

In this workshop students will learn the basics of -
1. Drawing with an etching needle to make an engraving into a Perspex plate.2. Inking plate and using the press to print the plate. 3. Finishing and storage of prints, editioning prints. 4. Use of different papers.
LOCATION of this printmaking workshop is in the old sugar wharf in Port Douglas.COST per person is $A115. Please see attached form for payment options. MATERIALS for use in this class are all included in the price.
